We often see the wizards in some sort of action or tense drama situation. Pratchett held a collfgiate understanding of academia, as well as of politics, policing, law, assassination, and another myriad subjects that his background wouldn’t suggest he was properly educated to address.

For all that there were no actual “devilish devices” in this short story, Pratchett managed to keep things entertaining as he soundly mocks the academic establishment through the absolutely backwards and inept wizards of Unseen University’s “faculty.

They were just as good, in many ways they were BETTER than the earliest books, but I could see the series coming to a conclusion, even if Sir Terry Pratchett hadn’t been struck down with a vile, horrible illness, years before his time.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. Funny story regarding education. Fantasy short stories Revolvy Brain revolvybrain. A fun, quick story that manages quite a few satirical snipes here and there, despite its brevity. I wonder if I can get a grant to research the possibility? I have always been overly fond of the wizards, especially Ridcully, so it was lovely to have an insight to more of their “academic” ways.

It was like a window into a world I left behind some time ago. However I almost felt they were really at their best here.

It has the wizards on it and a very well placed A E Pessoa cop and auditor extraordinary.
