You talked about the subjectivity of perception — it is a discussion along those lines and goes in the direction of philosophy, which is not something that I feel competent at discussing at length.

Aug 31, Val rated it really liked it Shelves: His ideas and the stuff he wants to say are great and important, but the way he presents them is not on a high level, it is out-dated and foetunes no match ot some of the best writers of his time. Such a man was Wangrin. How can documented reality be objective if our perception of it inexorably remains subjective? This is not real writing, not in this or last century — not in my opinion at least.

English View all editions and formats Rating: The fortunes of Wangrin Author: Biography History Additional Physical Format: His position between the French and the Africans makes this book a fascinating look into the functioning of colonial life; one of the more striking things for me was how thin the layer of bureaucracy seems to have been: One cannot be objective, as a writer, when writing about a topic.
If the reader only reads the story and skips the forward and afterward, he or she will likely leave the reading missing the entire point of the story.
